1. Dear               ,

I was just thinking we should do lunch this week – something reasonable though – maybe $5-$6 range? Or we could just put that money toward a really good cause. If skipping lunch 1 day a week could help a child battling autism would you do it? What if skipping lunch 1 day a week could help a family keep their child out of an institution? Or even provide an educator with the tools to help children and families battling autism? Or provide family training to help not only those who are suffering, but also to help their family and loved ones cope with having someone they love affected with Autism? After September 11, I put a flag on my car like most people in the world.  Rolling down the streets I realized that those flags were symbolic of the impetus felt by those of us who could do nothing.  Please help me to do something.  Help me to help in the battle against autism.  I know 100% of every dollar will be donated to Ascent School a 501(c)3 charity--that means that your support is tax deductible.  On June 11th, I will take part in the Mansion Ride V for Autism.  I will train for the event and pedal for miles with more heart than physical strength to impact the lives of children and families battling autism.

Thank you for your consideration!  No amount is to small.

2.  Dear Uncle Bob,

On June 11, 2006, I will ride my bicycle in the Mansion Ride cycling event to benefit children and families battling autism. We are blessed not to personally know the affects of autism, but I have come to know what autism is-- Autism may be best explained by way of a normally developing 18 month old child.  By this time the toddler is saying "Mama, Dada, give me and bottle".  Each day the child with autism loses a word, until there is silence and even the excited eyes that used to greet parents at the door can no longer acknowledge the love around them.  Autism is a devastating disorder that affects now 1 in every 166 births.  It is the third most common disorder...More prevalent than down syndrome, and childhood cancer yet it receives less than 5% of the funding of other less common disorders.  The earlier autism is diagnosed and treated, the better the chances for the children affected to gain independence. Most children with autism are placed in group homes or institutions before reaching the age of 13.  Ascent School for children with Autism is a recognized leader in helping to avoid this devastating circumstance.  Ascent provides early intervention and training for educators and family members.  The help that Ascent is providing its enrollment, their families and the field of education is far greater than I can detail, but on June 11th, I will speak on its impact and for the children who can not speak because of autism.  Please sponsor me in my ride.  Any amount is greatly appreciated.  I will be pedaling 50 miles for Ascent, and training three times a week for three hours per day, to make sure that I accomplish my dedicated task.

Thank you for always supporting me and for your consideration in helping me to make a difference.
